A few weeks ago, Scott, our friend, Ryan, and I visited the Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood. Mount Hood is about an hour east of Portland and sits at an elevation of 5,960 feet.
We have a view from Mount Hood from our apartment, but actually walking around on it was mind blowing. I had never seen that much snow!
The Timberline Lodge is famous for serving as the exterior of the Overlook Hotel in the movie, The Shining. It has the longest skiing season in the United States, as it is open for both skiers and snowboarders every month of the year. I have never been skiing or snowboarding, so I’m crazy excited to go back soon.
We attempted to hike around the mountain, but the ground was slippery and icy, causing me to bust my butt every other step. The view was absolutely spectacular, and it’s hard to believe that this beauty is so close now!
The Lodge itself is cozy and has the perfect ski resort feel. We spent a few hours walking around the Lodge, drinking spiked hot chocolate, and making s’mores. I never wanted to leave!
Have a wonderful weekend!
